quote of the day

All that is thought should not be said,
all that is said should not be written,
all that is written should not be published,
all that is published should not be read.

ikea and christmas preparations

Last week was exhausting, but it wasn't until the adrenalin had left my body and I actually had time to rest, that I realised just how draining it had been.
Last week I had; 2 essays, 2 presentations and one test in 2 days! I am still not sure how I made it through that, but I sure felt like superwoman by Friday morning.

So Monday, we went to Ikea to get some things for my room and Andreas apartment. Most of all we went to get a new frame (the second one that Danielle broke) so that we could put them back on the wall. But of course, just this Monday, it was out of stock. But we spent money anyway :) Ikea makes you do that.

Gingerbread, christmas candy, scented candles, a big warm cosy throw, pollows, light chains for my window, an alarm clock, and so on.
Yesterday was then the first time this year, that I allowed myself to listen to Christmas music. I am always very strict about not starting too early, because I get sick of hearing the same songs over and over again.

But it was just amazing to sit in my room and fold little Christmas stars from goldribbons, and have lit candles smelling of cinnamon and vanilla (I knwo you're not allowed to have candles in your room, so I'm hoping none of the deans see this).
And it really made my week.

the 6th

The 6th every month, we (me and A) try to do something special, because it was on the 6th we got together 47 months ago now.
Next month we will have been together for 4 years, and on January 1 we have been engaged for 1 year. So many things to celebrate, so many wonderful memories.
And in 9 months it will be our wedding day. How wild is that?

So because it's the 6th, a song to reminisce over "old days" to:

happy sabbath

Today is a gray day. The ground is wet. The leafs have lost their amazing brilliant colours and are sticky and flat on the grass.
Nevertheless, it is Sabbath.
It is God's gift to me. It's a day for me and a day for him.
God's presence is warmth, uplifting, is security, is love.
And all these things combined gives a sense of an amazing freedom.

Hillsong United - In Your Freedom

"I offer devotion"

This next song is for Heidi, who's all alone in Spain. You are so brave.
I miss you so much.
We sang this song at Hillsongs in London when you were here visiting us in January.

Hillsong London - You are Here

"The same power that conquered the grave, lives in me
Your love that rescued the earth, lives in me"

He lives in you!
